2 girls abducted from two dists rescued, 2 held
Two girls were rescued by police on Tuesday and Saturday after four and 15 days of their abduction in two districts. Two young men were arrested in connection with the incidents. 6 year old girl raped
A six-year-old girl was violated by a young man at Bhaluka village in Sadar upazila in Chuadanga on Saturday noon. The girl, rescued unconscious in the evening, is now undergoing treatment at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital. |
College girl killed in fire
A student of Government Titumir College was killed and five others sustained injuries as fire broke out at a Chinese restaurant in the city's Gulshan area last night.
The deceased Rukhsana Akhter, 20, Honours (English) second-year student, sustained severe burn injuries when she and around 70 others were attending a birthday party at Deja Vu Café opposite to Azad mosque in the area.
The injured were admitted to United Hospital in Gulshan.
Abdur Rashid, deputy director of Fire Brigade, said on information they rushed to the spot and found the restaurant on the second floor of a three-storey building in flames.
He said according to witnesses, sparks from illuminations originated the fire around 9:10pm.
"We managed to rescue the girl alive and sent her to United Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries," Rashid added.
Fire fighters brought the fire under control around 10:10pm.

30th BCS tests start today
The preliminary tests of 30th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations will be held today.
Over 1.31 lakh applicants will sit for the first-round exams in 110 centres across the country from 10:00am, competing for 2,572 posts of various cadres, said Public Service Commission (PSC) sources.
PSC published the advertisement of 30th BCS exams on March 14 this year and distribution of forms started on March 14.
